WNBA ROUNDUP | Thursday's games

Sting 73, Mystics 63
CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Tammy Sutton-Brown scored 16 points, Monique Curry added 13 and the Charlotte Sting beat the Washington Mystics for their first victory. Currie, a Washington D.C.-area native and the third overall pick in April's WNBA draft, made a 3-pointer from the right wing to put the Sting ahead 67-61 with 2 minutes left. She made four of eight shots, all four of her free throws and outplayed her former Duke teammate, Alana Beard, who had 11 points for the Mystics before fouling out with 4:44 left.
Sparks 80, Silver Stars 71
SAN ANTONIO -- Lisa Leslie had 25 points and 16 rebounds, leading Los Angeles. Playing without six-time All-Star Chamique Holdsclaw, the Sparks used their third different starting lineup in the first three games. But it's the eighth straight season the Sparks (2-1) have started the year by winning at least two of their first three. Holdsclaw missed her third straight game while tending to a "family matter," according to team officials. Holdsclaw is expected to practice with the team Saturday in Los Angeles.
