Vaughn appointed assistant director

WARREN -- Jan M. Vaughn has been appointed assistant director of the Warren-Trumbull County Public Library, effective July 1.
Vaughn, of Cortland, who is now the library system's public relations coordinator, was selected by library trustees to replace Mona Stevenson, who will retire June 30 after 30 years of library service.
Vaughn was previously a public relations specialist with HM Health Services, director of the Bristol Public Library and assistant news director at WRRO radio station. She hold a bachelor's degree in journalism and a master's degree in library science from Kent State University.
As assistant library director, her annual salary will be $55,000. The Warren-based library has branches in Brookfield, Cortland, Howland, Liberty and Lordstown.
Library Director Robert D. Briell said he recommended Vaughn for the job because of her previous experience as a library director and in public relations.
Briell also announced that, because of passage of the library's new 0.6-mill levy this month, the main library in Warren will resume its 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday hours Sept. 10; the system's materials acquisition budget will more than double to almost $1.5 million a year; and the bookmobile will be replaced.
