Putting on the dog in New Castle



The Lawrence County Fairgrounds are the site of the Memorial Classics Dog Show, one of the largest five-day dog shows in the country. Exhibits began Thursday and run 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily. A mastiff named Guaranteed to Steal Your Heart, above, waited patiently for his event alongside owner Lisa Gynn of South Beaver Township, Pa. Shelby the golden retriever, left, won Best of Winners among her competitors. Handler Leslie Dove of Maryland positioned the dog during Thursday morning's competition. The dog show is one of the signature events of the American Kennel Club. Admission is free, and parking costs $2.
