S.C. lieutenant governor hurt in air mishap

GREENVILLE, S.C. (AP) -- Lt. Gov. Andre Bauer was in good condition at a hospital Wednesday but will need surgery on an injured foot after the plane he was piloting ran into power lines, crashed and caught fire.
Bauer and a passenger survived Tuesday evening's crash with broken bones, cuts and bruises. Bauer also suffered a shattered heel, said his chief of staff, Mike Easterday.
Republican Sen. Jake Knotts, a longtime friend, said he spoke with Bauer on Wednesday and the lieutenant governor said he was sore but was generally in good spirits.
