Robbery cases transferred to grand jury

AUSTINTOWN -- Two men accused of aggravated robbery at the Sav-A-Step Food Mart on Mahoning Avenue have had their cases transferred to the Mahoning County grand jury.
Deondray L. Robinson, 18, of Delaware Avenue, Youngstown, and Deaunte T. Riley, 18, of South Avenue, Youngstown, had their cases transferred from Mahoning County Court on Wednesday. Felony cases are tried in the court of common pleas, not the county court.
The two are charged, along with a 17-year-old, in the May 16 robbery during which a clerk was shot in the leg. The clerk told police the juvenile, whom police wouldn't name, fired the shot.
Another man charged with two counts of aggravated robbery also had his case transferred to the grand jury. Gary P. Brainard Jr., 37, of Redgate Lane in Austintown, is accused of trying to rob a taxi driver May 10 and of robbing a man of $100 outside his apartment May 16.
