Commissioners approved the following at their meeting Tuesday:
The recycling division's agreement to give $12,500 to Thunderplex Inc. of Vienna, which is organizing the PONY girls softball national championship tournament this summer. The money will be used for advertising and promotions, said Jim Petuch, the county's recycling director. The money will not be taken from the county's general fund, but from the recycling division's budget that is supported by landfill fees. Organizers have said the tournament will use 39 fields at eight sites in Trumbull and Mahoning counties, attracting 320 teams and around 18,000 people.Agreements with Prout Boiler Heating & amp; Welding Inc. to repair the fire pump for the sprinkler system (for $1,385) and to install new mixing valves, pipe and fittings for showers ($23,568), all at the county jail. A separate agreement, which also was approved, is with Johnson Controls for ongoing maintenance of the jail's heating, ventilation and air conditioning system at a cost of $22,000.
