Commissioners hear grant project proposals

LISBON -- Columbiana County commissioners on Wednesday heard 15 subdivisions ask for $1.5 million in proposed projects.
The county, however, has only $281,600 in federal Community Development Block Grants to distribute for 2006.
Officials from cities, villages and townships asked for projects that included drainage and street improvements, water and sewer line installations and a back-up generator for Wellsville.
Officials from each subdivision were given five minutes to promote their project. The commissioners made no decision on which projects will be funded.
