New developments force delay

Detectives will get search warrants before proceeding with one suspect.
YOUNGSTOWN -- Jaimie Helms Crum, shot to death in a robbery, was a good-mannered child, his aunt says.
Vivian Crum, 48, of West Chalmers Avenue showed up in municipal court Tuesday, expecting to see 18-year-old Devron Pinkard of Park Vista Drive arraigned on two murder charges. The arraignment did not take place.
New developments
City Prosecutor Jay Macejko said new developments Tuesday morning caused detectives to look into different aspects of the case. He said detectives wanted to obtain search warrants today but he wouldn't elaborate on what would be searched.
Macejko said Pinkard's "involvement, if any, is that of an accomplice." If Pinkard shared any criminal intent with Adrian Sims, Pinkard, too, would be responsible for both murders, the prosecutor said.
Pinkard and Sims, 16, of West Marion Avenue were arrested Sunday in the shooting deaths of Jaimie Helms Crum of Cornell Street and Troy Barlow of Breaden Street, both 16. The victims were found Saturday evening in the backyard of 1630 Park Vista, both shot in the head.
Sims was arraigned in juvenile court and the prosecutor has filed a motion to relinquish jurisdiction and have the case transferred to Mahoning County Common Pleas Court to have him tried as an adult, Anthony D'Apolito, juvenile court administrator, said Tuesday.
Wants justice
Vivian Crum, meanwhile, said she was in municipal court Tuesday because she wants justice to be done. She said her mother adopted Jaimie.
She said her nephew attended Metro Assembly Church and wanted to go into the service. He was being picked on at Life Skills, an education center, by those accused of shooting him but he didn't want to fight, she said.
Vivian said she went to the morgue after her mother called Saturday to tell her Jaimie was dead. His shoes were taken in the robbery that ended in the shootings, she said.
