YOUNGSTOWN -- These roads in Mill Creek Park will be closed for the YMCA Memorial Five-Mile Run from 8 to 10 a.m. Saturday:
East Glacier Drive at Orange and High streets and Falls Avenue; West Glacier Drive at Price Road and Irving Place, including a section of Price Road.
During the event, access to Fellows Riverside Gardens will be available only from Mahoning Avenue.
Sex crimes bring prison
LISBON -- Two men were sentenced Monday to three years in prison for sex crimes involving young girls.
Columbiana County Common Pleas Court Judge C. Ashley Pike sentenced Joray Miller, 23, of Fort Bragg, N.C., on a charge of unlawful sexual conduct with a minor. Miller traveled to Lisbon last November to engage in sex with a girl, then 14, he had met on the Internet. Authorities found Miller in a motel room with the girl and empty beer cans.
Daniel A. Jones, 22, of Saltwell Road, Lisbon, also drew a three-year sentence on the same charge. He engaged in sexual activities with a girl, then 13, during a six-month period.
Spring Fling Wine Taste
YOUNGSTOWN -- The Youngstown Area Grocers Association, Youngstown State University and the YSU Foundation will hold their annual Spring Fling Wine Taste from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Stambaugh Auditorium.
Admission is $50 per person or $300 for a party of eight. Proceeds benefit the grocers association and YSU scholarship funds.
The evening will offer food, wine and live music from the Dana School of Music.
Windows shot out
YOUNGSTOWN -- Someone shot out three front windows at Rural Metro Ambulance on Market Street while everyone was out on a call around 1 p.m. Sunday, police said. Damage was estimated at $500.
Bakery robbed
YOUNGSTOWN -- Two men and a woman used a brick to smash through the front of West Side Bakery on Mahoning Avenue and rummaged through a cash drawer after ordering a worker to lie on the floor and threatening him with a hammer, police said.
Witnesses said the three wore coverings over their mouths.
After taking cash from the register and the worker's wallet, the trio ran out about 11:30 p.m. Sunday.
Man shot in thigh
WARREN -- A 49-year-old city man was in stable condition Monday in St. Joseph Health Center with a bullet in his right thigh.
Paul M. Allen, of Fourth Street Southwest, told police he was walking near Highland Avenue and Union Street Southwest at 10:20 p.m. Sunday when a man he knows accused him of breaking into a garage, pulled a handgun and fired two or three shots at him as he ran away.
Allen ran to a house for help and was taken to the hospital.
Police didn't identify the shooter.
Coroner issues ruling
LISBON -- The Columbiana County Coroner's Office has issued a preliminary ruling that Tim Brenner, 35, of 11051 state Route 164, Kensington, died of smoke inhalation.
He was found in a trailer home about 5:30 a.m. Sunday by the Hanover Township Fire Department.
