"American Idol" (8 p.m., Fox): Since January, we've endured horrendous audition sessions. We've watched Paula Abdul completely wig out. We put up with bad covers of Queen and Stevie Wonder, and we looked on in absolute disgust as Chris Daughtry was robbed. Now finally comes the week in which we see who will follow in the footsteps of Kelly Clarkson, Ruben Studdard, Fantasia and Carrie Underwood. The two finalists square off in a one-hour show tonight, and the winner, at last, is announced in a two-hour extravaganza from Hollywood's Kodak Theatre Wednesday.
Country Music Awards (8 p.m., CBS): While the "American Idol" finalists duke it out on Fox, two winning alums -- Kelly Clarkson and Carrie Underwood -- will be among the performers at the 41st Annual Academy of Country Music Awards. Joining them will be, among others, Toby Keith, Martina McBride, Kenny Chesney and Rascal Flatts. Serving as the host is Reba McEntire, an 11-time winner.
