West Branch loses, 5-4, in ninth



CANTON -- West Branch had leads of 2-0 and 4-2 before losing to Canton South, 4-3, in nine innings, in a Division II baseball district semifinal tournament game at Thurman Munson Memorial Stadium Saturday.
Catcher Jarrod Harris went 2-for-4 to pace the Warriors (18-9).
The game was scoreless until the sixth inning, when West Branch scored two runs, only to have the Wildcats tie the score in the bottom of the inning.
The Warriors scored two more runs in the top of the eighth before Canton South tied it again.
Canton South scored an unearned run with one out in the bottom of the ninth inning to secure the win.
The Wildcats (16-11) will play Alliance (21-3) today for the district championship. Alliance defeated Louisville 7-0 in Saturday's other semifinal.
