YOUNGSTOWN -- Recently deceased attorneys and judges from Mahoning County will be remembered at a service at 11 a.m. Thursday in Mahoning County Domestic Relations Court, on the fourth floor of the county courthouse, 120 Market St.
The Memorial Committee of the Mahoning County Bar Association is planning the service. Judge James C. Evans of common pleas court will speak, and presiding clergy will be the Rev. Dr. D. Larry Kline of Trinity United Methodist Church and Rabbi Joseph P. Schonberger of Temple El Emeth. Music will be by Atty. Kathi McNabb Welsh.
Presentations will be made to the families of William E. Pfau Jr., Clair M. Carlin, Myron J. Nadler, Bert Rigelhaupt, Edward Roberts, Peter Tedeschi, David S. Edwards, John H. Chudik and Judge John J. Leskovyansky, who died in the last year.
Recycling collection
COLUMBIANA -- The next recycling collection at Crestview High School will be from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday in the high school parking lot. Paper items collected are newspapers, magazines, phone books, catalogs, paperback books, hardcover books, school and office paper, junk mail and cardboard of all types. People are urged to separate paper items by type and pack them into brown paper bags, smaller plastic bags, or smaller cardboard boxes. Clean aluminum cans can be brought in larger plastic bags.
Computers, monitors, keyboards and printers also can be recycled. People can bring these items to the high school during the collection times, or they can be taken to Go Computers, across from McKinney's Furniture in Salem. Arbor Day ceremony
CANFIELD -- Arbor Day will be observed at 10 a.m. June 3 at Greasel Park. A tree will be planted in celebration of the children of Canfield near the park's new playground equipment. Dr. Linda Cooper and her supporters will be recognized for their help in securing the new equipment. All Canfield residents are invited to attend and to bring their children to see the new equipment.
4-H camping program
LISBON -- Columbiana County 4-H will take part in a camping program for children ages 8-14 at Camp Whitewood in Windsor, Ohio. The event will be June 12-16 at a cost of $150 per person. Registrations must be returned by June 1 to the county Cooperative Extension Service. The 4-H Summer Camp will be from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. June 28 at the county fairgrounds. The cost is $30 a person. Family rates are available. Registration must be made by June 3.
Salvation Army drive
NEWTON FALLS -- The Newton Falls Salvation Army is looking for volunteers to ring bells for the "Christmas in July" campaign July 1-3. Ringers are needed at Giant Eagle and IGA from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. A two-hour shift is suggested. All of the money raised will go to help people in the Newton Falls community.
