BAZAAR
New Hope Baptist Church, 437 Albert St., Youngstown, will hold a bazaar from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday. Clothing, toys, puzzles and household items will be featured, and there will also be a bake sale.
Salem Centennial Park, East Pershing Street, Salem, is seeking vendors for its arts and crafts bazaar to be held from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. June 24. Setup will be at 7 a.m. Spaces of 20 by 20 feet are available for $25 if vendors provide tables and chairs, and for $35 with an 8-foot table and chairs. Tents are allowed; no electric available. Checks or money orders should be mailed to the Salem Memorial Building Association, 785 E. State St., Salem, OH 44460. There will be no refunds. CARDS/BINGO
St. Joseph Church, 4565 New Road, Austintown, will hold a Texas Hold'em tournament Saturday with registration from 5 to 6 p.m. and play beginning at 6. Those pre-registering by Friday with George Zokle, (330) 799-3956, or Chuck Housteau, (330) 792-3532, will receive $200 in extra chips. The entry fee is $65 and will pay at least the top seven places. Coffee and food are free. Other beverages will be sold.
FESTIVALS
Youngstown Christian School, 4401 Southern Blvd., will hold a festival from 4 to 11 p.m. Thursday and Friday and 2 to 11 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. There will be a concert each night and a performance by Michael Dustman, magician, on Friday. GOLF OUTINGS
Northeast Ohio Adoption Services, 5000 E. Market St., Warren, will hold a golf outing June 5 at Trumbull Country Club. The theme for the 18-hole shamble is "Play It for the Kids!" A buffet luncheon will precede play, and there will be team and individual prizes, a social hour and dinner. Registration is suggested by June 2 as only 120 golfers can be accommodated. RAFFLES
Someplace Safe Inc., a Trumbull County domestic violence agency, is raffling off $5,000 in cash, a high-definition television and $250 in cash as a benefit for the agency. The drawing will be Sept. 16. SPECIAL EVENTS
Mahoning Valley Astronomical Society will sponsor a scenic vista stargaze Saturday (weather permitting). Participants are asked to arrive by noon for solar observing and model airplane flying. At 6 p.m., there will be an informal gathering at the pavilion, where refreshments may be purchased, and at 9 the star party begins and will end at noon Sunday. Participants are advised to take food, beverages and warm clothing. Camping is permitted, but no camp fires are allowed. There is no charge for the event or camping. Niles Chapter of the American Sewing Guild will sponsor a seminar, trunk show and luncheon from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. June 24 at Howland Community Church. Peggy Sagers, founder of Silhouette Patterns, will speak on getting proper fit and choosing correct styles and proportions when sewing or buying garments. Poland Masonic Temple, 7685 Youngstown-Pittsburgh Road, will host an antique car, street rod and motorcycle show from 4 to 5:30 p.m. Sunday with plaques to be awarded for best of show entries. A sock hop will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. A $2 hop admission includes a free soda, and prizes will be awarded for the best '50s outfit, best limbo and hula dancers, and trivia.
WINE TASTES
Youngstown Area Grocers Association and YSU Foundation will hold a Spring Fling wine taste from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Stambaugh Auditorium, 1000 Fifth Ave., Youngstown. Admission is $50 per person or $300 for a party of eight, and the evening will include food, wine and music by YSU's Dana School of Music.
