Area driving checkpoints net 6 arrests
Sixteen officers from 12 police departments in Mahoning County made six arrests and seized two vehicles over the weekend during two impaired-driving checkpoints.
Four of the arrests were for operating a motor vehicle while impaired.
According to the Governor's Highway Safety Office, checkpoints took place between 8:30 p.m. Saturday and 1:30 a.m. Sunday at Mahoning and Milton avenues in Milton Township, and at state Route 165 and state Route 45 between Green and Goshen townships.
All 862 vehicles coming through the checkpoint zone were briefly checked by officers, with 35 vehicles pulled to the side for further investigation.
According to the report, 35 people received citations for not wearing a seat belt.
Two individuals refused to take a Breathalyzer test, the report said.
