Police officers honor their fallen comrades
Warren Fraternal Order of Police Lodge No. 34 dedicates Memorial Park next to the Log Cabin in downtown Warren to honor all law enforcement officers who died in the line of duty in the city. Above, Warren police officers reflect on the sacrifice of their comrades during a moment of silence and prayer. At right, after placing the memorial wreath at the monument, Dan Baker, left, extended his gratitude to Patrol Officer Pat Hoolihan on Saturday afternoon. Baker's father, Irving Baker, was one of the two officers killed in the line of duty. At left, Joann Hustead held a picture with the badge of her grandfather, Scott Vasbinder, Newton Falls police chief, who was killed while answering a burglary-in-progress call in that city. Among the dignitaries at the event were Police Chief John Mandopoulos, Mayor Michael O'Brien and the Rev. Charles Crumbley, pastor of St. James Church. Remarks were made by Patrolman Brian Crites, president of the FOP lodge. Last week was National Police Memorial Week.
