CAMPUS NOTES In the spotlight



BALDWIN-WALLACE COLLEGE
Janeen Masternick, daughter of Joe and Renee Masternick of Boardman and a junior psychology and pre-med major with a minor in neuroscience, has been inducted into the Dayton C. Miller Honor Society, Baldwin-Wallace's equivalent to Phi Beta Kappa. She was also recently inducted into Psi Chi National Honor Society in Psychology and the Epsilon Chapter of Pi Gamma Mu, the social studies international honor society.
YOUNGSTOWN STATE UNIVERSITY
Roberto Risi, son of Nick and Anna Risi of Poland and a senior chemistry major, has received the College Chemistry Award from The Society for Analytical Chemists of Pittsburgh. In addition to a monetary award for him, YSU will receive a monetary award for Maag Library in his honor. Risi has also earned the Technology Leaders Scholarship Award and the Eugene Scudder Physical Chemistry Award and is a member of the ODK and Golden Key International honor societies.
Angela Marie Kwallek of Ravenna, a senior political science and Spanish major and daughter of Norman and Linda Kwallek, has been presented with a $2,000 Award of Excellence from the Phi Kappa Phi honor society. She will use the money to pursue a law degree at the University of Toledo College of Law.
WESTMINSTER COLLEGE
Alexander G. White of Mineral Ridge, son of Charles White and Deborah Celli and a senior biochemistry major, has received the College Chemistry Award from The Society for Analytical Chemists of Pittsburgh. Both he and the college library will receive a monetary award. White was a member of the college Chemistry Club and earned varsity letters in both track and field and football.
DENISON UNIVERSITY, Granville, Ohio
Nimarta Singh, daughter of Dr. Parduman and Paula Singh of Canfield, and Autumn Lotze, daughter of Richard and Lisa Lotze of North Lima, have been inducted into Alpha Kappa Delta, the sociology and anthropology honorary. Both women are senior sociology/anthropology majors. Singh is a 2003 graduate of Western Reserve Academy and Lotze is a 2003 graduate of South Range High School.
OHIO STATE UNIVERSITY
Audrey Martinko, daughter of Mary Ann Martinko of Boardman and Gerry Martinko of Campbell, has been inducted into SPHINX, the senior honorary at Ohio State. She is pursuing a master's degree in Italian studies.
MALONE COLLEGE, Canton
Noreen Edwards of Youngstown has been recognized as an outstanding alumna by the college's School of Nursing. Edwards, a 2004 graduate, works at St. Elizabeth Health Center as manager of the parent education office and as a lactation consultant. She serves on the Magnet Committee, the Nurse Advisory Council and the Research Committee and works with the Helping Each Other After Loss program at Nathan's Foundation.
DICKINSON COLLEGE, Carlisle, Pa.
Joy Burnette of Canfield has been inducted into the Alpha Lambda Delta national academic honor society. The honor recognizes outstanding freshman students. Burnette is a 2005 graduate of Canfield High School.
MOUNT UNION COLLEGE, Alliance
Alex Kubli of Canfield, Joseph Rettig of East Palestine and Jena Wilms of Columbiana have been inducted into the Blue Key Honor Society, a national honorary for junior and senior students. Kubli is a writing major, Rettig a biochemistry major and Wilms a biology major.
Eight area students have been inducted into Psi Kappa Omega, the college's scholastic honor society. The local inductees are: William L. Bartos, a junior political science major from Poland; Beatrice B. Petzinger, a senior music education major from Poland; Elizabeth A. Bonanno, a senior political science major from Canfield; Gina L. Donald, a senior accounting major from Youngstown; Chad P. Kimmel, a senior computer science major from Youngstown; Jamie E. Musick, a senior media studies major from Warren; Dara R. Plate, a senior early childhood education major from New Waterford; and Staci A. Zimmerman, a junior early childhood education major from Leetonia.
MERCYHURST COLLEGE, Erie, Pa.
Brett Pitzulo, son of Michael and Therese Pitzulo of Poland, has been awarded the $2,000 Sitter Family Endowed Scholarship. Recipients are limited to the education department. Pitzulo, a freshman, is pursuing a bachelor's degree in education.
