Flushing waterlines
CAMPBELL -- The city water department will flush waterlines from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily from Tuesday through Friday to remove harmless sediment from the water main lines, Shawn McCormick, department superintendent, said.
The flushing program will occur in the 1st Ward on Tuesday, the 2nd Ward on Wednesday, the 3rd Ward on Thursday and the 4th Ward on Friday.
McCormick said customers may experience decreased water pressure or minor discoloration, which he said is not harmful, during the flushing hours. If the discoloration persists or any other questions arise, customers should call McCormick at (330) 755-4822.
Info on arson sought
BUTLER, Pa. -- Pennsylvania State Police at the Butler barracks are asking that anyone with information about an intentionally set fire at the Buffalo and Pittsburgh Railroad Divener trestle to call (724) 284-8100.
The railroad estimates it will cost $2 million to repair or replace the damaged trestle located along Pa. Route 68 in Donegal Township. The wooden railroad trestle was constructed before the Civil War.
The fire was set May 10.
SRU Farmer's Market
SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. -- The success of last summer's Slippery Rock Farmer's Market, organized by Slippery Rock University students, has prompted organizers to establish the market again.
It started May 20 and will run every Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon through Oct. 28.
Local vendors will sell produce, eggs, meat and honey as well as handcrafted goods in the parking lot of Village Park on New Castle Street.
Boardman reception
BOARDMAN -- Township trustees are having a reception at 6:30 p.m. Monday at the government center on Market Street to thank the many governmental agencies, township employees, businesses, and citizens who volunteered their time to make the first Boardman Takes Pride event last month a success.
The trustees' regular business meeting follows at 7 p.m.
