ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The Youngstown State University website will offer a Clear Channel Youngstown broadcast of this weekend's Penguins softball games at the NCAA Tournament.
The Penguins play No. 9-seed Michigan tonight at 7. The game can be accessed via the home page of the Youngstown State Athletics website YSUsports.com by clicking the LIVE AUDIO link on the softball story.
Clear Channel will produce the games with Chad Krispinsky calling the action. The broadcast will start at 6:45 p.m.
Saturday's broadcast time depends on the outcome of the Penguins' game with the Wolverines. A YSU victory advances them to the winner's bracket game at noon while a loss will send them into a 2:30 p.m. loser's bracket contest.

District track
CRESTON -- Western Reserve junior Alex Rathburn finished first in the shot put and second in the discus at Wednesday's Division III district meet at Norwayne High School.
Rathburn threw 38 feet, 11 3/4 inches in the shot and 121-8 in the discus. She will compete in both events at next week's regional at Navarre Fairless High School.
Area umpiresto work tournaments
YOUNGSTOWN -- Two local umpires will be working college conference tournament action next week.
Greg Patoray of Austintown, who is in his sixth season of post-season college baseball, will be working the Horizon League Championships in Dayton. This will be his third time working the Horizon League tournament.
Dave Smith of Warren will be working the Mid-American Conference tournament for the second straight season.

MINERAL RIDGE -- Weathersfield Board of Education hired Richard Brunton as assistant varsity boys track coach at $1,872.68 for the current school year.
The board also approved supplemental contracts for: Pete Shelby, assistant varsity football coach, $3,107; Kevin Haynie, assistant varsity football coach, $3,107; John Johnson, assistant varsity football coach, $3,107; Matthew Blair, ninth-grade football coach, $3,107; Dan Nagle, ninth-grade football coach, $3,107.28; Joe Stevens, seventh- and eighth-grade football coach, $3,107; Phillip Frye, seventh and eighth grade football coach, $3,107; Darren Garris, seventh- and eighth-grade football coach, $3,107; and Butch Rhodes, eighth grade boys basketball coach, $3,107.
Camelot hasbowling event
BOARDMAN -- The 33rd Ohio Women's Bowling Association's Buckeye Belle Bowling Tournament will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Camelot Lanes.
Now under the United States Bowling Congress umbrella, the association's event is a scratch tournament of four games across eight lanes. Participants are the all-events actual champions of various associations across Ohio in 2005.
Theresa Florjanic is Youngstown's USBC WBA representative.
Gannon's Fergusis honored
ERIE, Pa. -- Gannon senior Joanna Fergus, a Fitch High graduate, was named to the Louisville Slugger/National Fastpitch Coaches Association Division II All-America second team.
The senior first baseman led the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference in home runs (12) and RBIs (54). She was second in average (.392) and slugging percentage (.653), third in total bases (115), fourth in hits (69) and fourth in on-base percentage (.443).

Graves waived
CLEVELAND -- Right-hander Danny Graves cleared waivers Thursday and accepted an assignment to the Cleveland Indians' Triple-A affiliate in Buffalo.
The Indians also traded minor-league outfielder Todd Donovan to the Baltimore Orioles for a player to be named.
Graves had been designated for assignment Friday night .

The 32-year-old had compiled a Cincinnati team-record 182 saves after being dealt to the Reds by the Indians in 1997 until being released last June. He then pitched in 20 games for the New York Mets and signed with Cleveland as a free agent in December.
Donovan, 27, signed with the Indians as a minor-league free agent in December. In 24 games at Double-A Akron, he hit .289 (26-for-90) with 17 stolen bases in 20 attempts, 10 runs, four doubles and three RBIs.
