Commissioners
Mahoning County commissioners also handled these matters:
Officially hired Mark Furman as assistant director of the county's facilities management department. Commissioner Anthony Traficanti said Furman has been doing the job for the last eight months. Pete Triveri, the department's director, said Furman has worked there for 17 years.
Appointed two more members to the newly formed Mahoning County Convention & amp; Visitors Bureau. Bishop Chorrethers M. Jenkins Sr. is pastor of Grace Evangelistic Temple on Shehy Street, and Andrew Hamady is ending a 91/2 year term as president of the Mahoning County Mental Health Board. The CVB board now has 11 members.
Approved continuation of funding projects in Coitsville and Poland townships that received local Community Development Funds in 2004. Coitsville has $15,248 to use for restoration and handicap accessibility at the township hall, and Poland Township will use its $1,457 toward a storm sewer replacement project on Beechwood and Lakewood drives. The community development fund was created with money from a 0.5 percent county sales tax that has since expired, Traficanti said.
