Ohio auditor in hospital to undergo tests

COLUMBUS (AP) -- Ohio Auditor Betty Montgomery was hospitalized Thursday while doctors tried to determine the cause of her lingering chest cold and cough, a spokeswoman said.
Montgomery, the Republican candidate for state attorney general, was admitted Wednesday to Ohio State University Medical Center so tests could be conducted, spokeswoman Jennifer Detwiler said.
Her family doctor suggested the testing as a precaution, and the results were not yet available, Detwiler said.
She said Montgomery was in good spirits and resting comfortably. A hospital spokesman said he couldn't release details of Montgomery's condition.
Montgomery, 58, originally entered the governor's race but dropped out last year to pursue her former position of attorney general, which she held for eight years before being elected auditor in 2002.
She faces state Sen. Marc Dann, a Liberty Democrat, in the November election.
