Cal Edwards picked to win All-Star race

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) -- Carl Edwards became the favorite to win NASCAR's All-Star race when the president of Lowe's Motor Speedway predicted he would win the event.
Humpy Wheeler picked Edwards to win the Nextel All-Star Challenge Monday during his annual selection ceremony. Wheeler has correctly chosen the winner nine times in the last 17 years, but hasn't gotten one right since predicting Dale Earnhardt Jr. would win in 2001.
Edwards, in his second full season, will be making his second start in the All-Star race. He was eliminated in an accident last year and finished 15th.
