Trumbull commissioners to put audio of meetings on Web site

WARREN -- Trumbull County residents who wish to hear county commissioners' discussions at their weekly meetings will have that option in the near future.
Tony Carson Jr., county administrator, said the county has bought a relatively inexpensive digital tape recorder, tested it at recent meetings and is prepared to put the recordings on its Web site in the coming weeks.
"It's another way to get information out to the citizens who need it," Carson said, explaining that with most people having access to computers and the Internet, it is a service whose time has come.
Carson said the county Web site has been providing public access to agendas and minutes of the commissioners' two meetings per week -- on Tuesdays and Wednesdays -- since September.
The county's Web address is www.co.trumbull.oh.us.
The commissioners have a link on the page, which is where the audio recordings will be found, Carson said.
In other business, commissioners approved:
$213,000 worth of change orders to allow the Newton Falls Covered Bridge Rehabilitation project to move forward. The additional amount brings the total project cost to $1,056,185. The project was stalled over a disagreement with the contractor.
The collective bargaining agreement between the county and the 20 employees at the 911 center who are members of the Ohio Patrolmen's Benevolent Association. The agreement will cost the county an additional $65,000 over the three years of the deal.
