Challenge is for health

CANFIELD -- The American Cancer Society is launching the Great American Eat Right Challenge today. The program is being conducted to build awareness about the link between being overweight and cancer risk and to provide advice and tips on adopting healthy eating habits as a way to help maintain a healthy weight and reduce cancer risk.
The challenge was formerly known as the Great American Weigh-In. It is sponsored by Weight Watchers International, the Grain Foods Foundation and Quest Diagnostics.
"The most effective ways to reduce cancer risk are by maintaining a healthy weight, being physically active, eating a healthy diet and not smoking," said Dr. Carolyn D. Runowicz, president of the American Cancer Society.
