Workshop series to address city problems



YOUNGSTOWN -- A series of neighborhood workshops begin tonight with a workshop on reversing decline, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Butler Museum of American Art.
The moderator is Jamael Brown of Youngstown State University's Center for Urban and Regional Studies.
Speakers are Alan Mallach, National Housing Institute, and Bruce Murphy, KeyBank National Association.
Organizers said there will be more seminars scheduled in the fall, all sponsored by numerous corporations and organizations.
Vacant properties will be the topic of the second workshop, 7-9 p.m. June 14, also at the Butler. Moderator is Dan Holland of the Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland.
Speakers are Joseph Schilling, National Vacant Properties Campaign; Lisa Nelson, Case Western Reserve University; Bill D'Avignon, city of Youngstown; and John Reardon, Mahoning County treasurer.
