Man taken to jail after observation

HERMITAGE, Pa. -- A man who police say held them at bay for seven hours from his North Buhl Farm Drive home has been taken to jail.
Hermitage Deputy Chief Edward Holiga said Antuane Cornelious, 25, had been under psychiatric observation at Sharon Regional Hospital since his surrender Friday evening, but was moved about 2 p.m. Monday to the Mercer County Jail.
According to Holiga, Cornelious will be arraigned by video at a later date. He is being held in the jail because of a probation detainer on an arson charge, said Mercer County District Attorney Jim Epstein.
According to Vindicator files, Cornelious was sentenced to six months to two years in jail and one to three years' probation in 2003 for setting fire to his parents' home.
According to court documents, Cornelious started a fire in the basement of his parents' home on North Buhl Farm Drive on Oct. 23, 2002, then failed to extinguish it or alert anyone that it was burning. The fire caused $1,000 in damage.
Police said Cornelious fired a pistol outside his residence about 10:30 a.m. Friday, striking three vehicles -- a white Eckerd Drug delivery car, a pickup truck and a van that had been parked at a nearby convenience store.
Cornelious remained in his home until about 5:45 p.m. when he surrendered. No one was injured.
He is charged with four counts of aggravated assault, four counts of attempted criminal homicide and being a person prohibited from possessing a gun.
