Penn-Ohio golf
YOUNGSTOWN -- Youngstown Ohio Carpet won the day's event, but Warren Golf Headquarters/Candywood continued to dominate the Penn-Ohio Golf League after Sunday's round at Mill Creek Golf Course.
Ohio Carpet finished with 221/2 points on the day, while Warren was second at 211/2, while Sharon took third with four. Warren leads the overall standings 53 to 51.5 over Youngstown with Sharon at 29.5.
John Scarsella of Warren was medalist with a 1-over-par 71, while Zack Mansky of Youngstown shot 72. Frank Bellino and Dick Marlowe of Youngstown and Larry McCall of Sharon all posted 74s.
Sharon's John Zebroski had a hole-in-one on the No. 17 hole, while the team of Scarsella and Jim Perry took the best ball event with a 67.
The next match is Saturday at Hickory VFW golf course in Hermitage, Pa at 8:30 a.m.

*BOARDMAN -- Nick Antonucci, a senior soccer standout at Boardman High, will continue his athletic career at Mount Union College.
Antonucci, a 5-foot-10, 140-pound forward, was a first-team all-district and a third-team all-county selection in 2005.
He plans to major in political science at Mount Union.
Also, Brent Davis of Newton Falls, will play at Mount Union. A 6-1, 170-pound goalie-forward, Davis was a four-year letter winner and team captain at Newton Falls.
He was first team all-conference and all-county. He plans to major in computer science.
*DELAWARE -- Ohio Wesleyan University senior Michael Krieger was academic All-District IV first team by ESPN The Magazine.
Krieger, a Boardman native, was 6-2 with a 3.92 earned run average this season.
Krieger is a journalism major with a 3.26 GPA.
*ALLIANCE -- Mount Union sophomore Andy Warner was named All-Ohio Athletic Conference first team in baseball after batting a team-high .379 with three home runs and 39 RBIs.
Junior pitcher Shawn Kerek (5-4) was named second team, while senior first baseman Thomas Pfaus and senior pitcher Nic Carucci were honorable mention.
The Purple Raiders finished 23-17 overall and 10-8 in the OAC.
*BEAVER FALLS, Pa. -- Geneva College's baseball team will compete in the NCCAA national tournament this week in Clearwater, Fla.
The Golden Tornadoes (26-22) will open the eight-team double elimination tournament Wednesday against Mid-America Nazarene. Malone College is the top seed.

WARREN -- Tony Montana has been selected to work the NAIA college softball tournament in the Cleveland area the next two weekends.
Bowling
YOUNGSTOWN -- Flower Power won both the team handicap and actual categories by rolling 2640 and 2546, respectively, as the Youngstown Women's Bowling Association city tournament came to a conclusion.
Flower Power members were Paula Pecorelli, Lisa Pecorelli, Annie Bartoletti and Carol Pennington.
Paula Pecorelli had a 286 during the team event competition. The doubles crown, both handicap and actual, was won by Paula Pecorelli and Jennifer Gossett with 1393.
Jennifer Doughton was the singles handicap winner after rolling 788 and Teri Haefke captured singles actual with 715.
Haefke was also the all-events champion with 2010.

Jim Lemon dies
MINNEAPOLIS -- Jim Lemon, a former All-Star outfielder and major league manager who once received personal congratulations from President Eisenhower after a slugging show, has died. He was 78.
Lemon died Sunday at his home in Brandon, Miss. He had been ill with cancer.
Lemon spent 26 seasons with the Washington Senators and Minnesota Twins as a player, manager, coach, scout and instructor. He also played for Cleveland, Philadelphia and the Chicago White Sox.
Jimmie Johnson signsextension with Lowe's
CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- NASCAR points leader Jimmie Johnson signed a three-year contract extension Monday committing him to Hendrick Motorsports through the 2010 season.
Lowe's, the primary sponsor of the No. 48 Chevrolet, also agreed to stay with the team through 2010.
