Volunteers walk for funds to fight cancer

Round-the-clock Relay for Life fund-raising walks for the American Cancer Society began Friday evening under intermittent rain and will end this evening at the Boardman Spartan football stadium and at Courthouse Square in downtown Warren. Above, carnations symbolize friends or relatives stricken with cancer. Right, cancer survivors wearing distinctive yellow shirts walk in Warren. Below, participants circle the track in Boardman. The Warren event, previously held at Mollenkopf Stadium, was in Warren's Courthouse Square for the first time this year. Goals are $551,000 in Warren and $353,000 in Boardman. Last year, the Warren and Boardman events ranked first and second, respectively, in funds raised in Ohio.
