United Way recognizes campaign achievements
The 2005 campaign chairman was honored.
HOWLAND -- Individuals and organizations were recognized last week at United Way of Trumbull County annual meeting at Leo's Ristorante for their achievements on behalf of the 2005 United Way campaign.
Among those honored were:
Donald W. Emerson Jr., 2005 United Way campaign chairman, distinguished service award. Emerson is executive director of the Trumbull Metropolitan Housing Authority. The campaign raised $1.85 million.
Eat 'n' Park Restaurant, campaign chairman's award for attainment of the highest percentage of employee giving potential.
Monro Muffler & amp; Brake, campaign chairman's award for achievement of the highest percentage increase based upon employee giving potential.
East Middle School and McGuffey Elementary School, both in Warren, student campaign awards recognizing the highest per-student contributions.
Special awards
Special recognition awards went to St. Joseph Health Center for sponsoring a Mahoning Valley Scrappers home run promotion; Lens Crafters for its Gift of Sight program; and 48 area merchants who participated in the Caring Club program that offered discounts for contributors of $120 or more.
Diane R. Sauer, chairwoman of the United Way board, who received an exemplary leadership award, presented voluntary service awards to Jerry J. McGee, chairman of United Way's finance and administration committee; Michael A. DiCenso, chairman of the budget and allocations committee; and Karen R. DeSalvo, chairwoman of the marketing and communications committee.
DiCenso was elected board treasurer; and Charlene W. Allen, Kathryn Hellweg, David Z. Paull and Cathy Saluga were elected trustees.
