2004
Legislation: A resolution to put video slot machines in Ohio's seven racetracks passes the Ohio Senate but fails in the House.
2002
Campaign promise: Democrat Tim Hagan says if he's elected governor he would propose putting video gambling in racetracks. Hagan loses to Gov. Bob Taft by 20 percentage points.
1996
Constitutional amendment on ballot: To authorize the establishment of river boat casino gambling in Ohio. Yes, 38 percent; no, 62 percent.
1990
Constitutional amendment on ballot: To authorize the licensing of a casino resort hotel, including games by electronic and mechanical devices, for profit, in the city of Lorain. Yes, 38 percent; no, 62 percent.
