Pupils learn about world
in study of U.S. ethnicity
Pupils from Poland's McKinley Elementary School took part in a celebration of our nation's ethnicity during a Nationality Day event. Above, Tate Nordgren, center, dons traditional Swedish attire, and gets some help from sixth-graders Jenny Tareshawty, wearing Mexican garb, and Kelsey Malenic, decked out in Croatian clothing. Jenny is a former Poland pupil who returned from Florida on a visit. Below, Edwin Figueroa, a sixth-grader, shows off a hat to celebrate his Mexican heritage. At right, sixth-graders Erin Gabriel, left, in Irish attire, and Dominique Goodin, in Croatian garb, sample some of the ethnic food brought to the school. Social studies pupils put on Friday's event after studying early cultures in Africa, Asia, Europe and Central and South America.
