Youngstown police probe 3 shootings
YOUNGSTOWN -- City police are investigating three shootings that took place Wednesday.
A Forest View Avenue man said he was walking home from a store with his 7-year-old son when he got caught in the crossfire that came from two cars traveling in opposite directions on his street around 10 p.m., police said. The man was shot in the left ankle. The boy was not injured.
In another shooting, at least eight bullets entered the front of a house in the 1700 block of Atkinson Avenue around 9:45 p.m. Wednesday and damaged interior walls. No injuries were reported. The resident said she hit the floor and didn't see who fired. A car parked in the driveway was hit.
And on Cordova Avenue, as many as eight shots were fired at an apartment from a car that pulled up around 6 p.m., police said. A woman leaving with her 11-month-old son said a passenger in the car opened fire and she ran back inside. Some bullets went through three upstairs windows. One bullet lodged in the ceiling.
