Youngstown Chapter installs new officers
Anne Cobbin and her associate officers will serve two-year terms.
BOARDMAN -- The Youngstown Chapter of Links Inc. met April 23 at the Holiday Inn South to install officers for the 2006-2008 term.
Taking her oath as new president was Anne R. Cobbin, who also served as hostess for the evening.
Sworn-in as her associate officers were Krishmu Shipmon, vice president; Lenora Hill, recording secretary; Yvonne Mathis, financial secretary; Vicki Doe, treasurer; and Virginia Banks-Bright, corresponding secretary, who also conducted the installation ceremony.
Chairmen
New committee and project chairmen are Alnita Bryant-Russell, arts and chaplain; Sarah Brown-Clark: arts, parliamentarian and bylaws; Janice L. Beachum, services to youth, nominating and public relations; Mabel Paige, services to youth; Margaret Person, national trends; Joan Boyd, national trends, archivist and historian; JoAnn Blunt and Wanda Smith, international trends; Virginia Banks-Bright and Brenda Martin, social; Germaine Bennett and Shipmon, membership and programming; and Juanita Davis, membership, programming and bylaws.
The group
The organization, which recently sponsored the "200 Sisters in Red" health fair, provides services to the community. Some of its projects in the past two years have included tutoring at the Operation Learning Community Program; providing scholarships; sponsoring a jazz concert and reception with the Youngstown Symphony, and the donation of toys at Christmas, school supplies to elementary school students in the Youngstown City School District and a gift basket for "Light Up A Life" at Tod Children's Hospital.
In the last year, members have logged over 1,000 hours of service.
