Taxi driver reports attempted robbery

AUSTINTOWN -- A taxi driver turned the tables on a would-be robber, a township police report said.
The driver told police a customer tried to rob him after he took him to a home on Lynnhaven Drive on Wednesday at 4:50 a.m.
The driver said that after he took the man to the Lynnhaven Drive address, the man said he had to ask relatives inside for money to pay the $54 fare.
The driver followed the man to the porch, where the man reached under the porch and pulled out a brown object. He pointed it at the driver and demanded all his money, according to the police report.
The driver had a gun with him. He drew it on the man, who fled. He tried to hide behind a tree, and the driver told him to lie down, but he ran away, and the driver called police, according to the report.
