Sting nets clerk in illegal sale of cigarettes
WARREN -- A convenience store clerk was cited for illegal sale of cigarettes to a minor in an undercover enforcement operation Wednesday, police said.
Kenneth W. Morris II, 23, of Adams Street, Newton Falls, a clerk at the Garfield Convenience Store, 270 Garfield Drive N.E., was cited at 5:05 p.m. after police said he sold a pack of cigarettes to a 16-year-old girl working as a confidential informant with a state investigative agent.
The transaction, in which Morris reportedly made the sale after checking the girl's identification, was recorded, police said. Morris was released on a summons to appear in municipal court today.
