ON THE SIDE. . .
This and that from the world of Valley politics.
SIGN OF THE TIMES: The quick response from candidates and their supporters to remove yard signs only days after the May 2 primary is impressive. Sometimes, these signs are left for weeks after an election.
But sometimes campaigns fail to take down every sign, particularly those in empty fields or in front of vacant buildings.
The guilty party this time is state Sen. Charlie Wilson, who successfully won the Democratic primary for the 6th Congressional District as a write-in candidate. I've seen Wilson signs in a few spots in Youngstown and the eastern part of Austintown. Neither of those are in the 6th, but Wilson has issues when it comes to figuring out district lines.
Wilson had about five dozen of his campaign signs removed by Boardman police before last week's primary, according to Detective Kim Kotheimer. At least Boardman is in the 6th District.
