Mercer officials OK pact for CYS training



MERCER, Pa. -- Mercer County commissioners have approved several contracts, including one with Janet Nichols of Mercer on behalf of Children and Youth Services for stress management training for foster parents and children and youth workers.
Cost is $200 per session; the training is required by the state. The contract runs from March 1 through June 20.
Family Services of Northwest Pennsylvania, Erie, agreed to provide several services to children and adolescents who have been both perpetrators and victims of sexual abuse. The rates for services vary. The Erie services will be used as a backup when local professionals used by CYS are not available. Commissioners also agreed to pay Tyco Simplex Grinnell, Cranberry Township, $3,950 per year to provide the annual fire alarm inspection for the Mercer County Jail.
Commissioners also appointed Lizzette Olsen of Mercer to a three-year term on the county Commission for Women. Her term commences June 1 and runs to May 31, 2009.
