Dark Karnival, horror and science fiction festival, set for weekend



AUSTINTOWN -- Dark Karnival, a horror and science fiction celebrity film festival, will be held this weekend at the Best Value Inn, 1051 North Canfield-Niles Road.
The show, sponsored by Travis Bowen, promoter of the Dark Xmas convention held annually in Warren, will take place in three rooms. Two rooms will have celebrity guests, independent filmmakers and movie vendors, and the third will be the movie room. Celebrity guests will include a "Dawn Of The Dead" reunion with Clayton Hill, lead zombie, who also co-starred in "Hellraiser 3"; Sharon Ceccatti, another lead zombie; Joe Shelby and Nick Tallo. Other guests include Robert Z'Dar from the "Maniac Cop" trilogy; J.R. Bookwalter, who directed "Dead Next Door" and is chief executive officer of Tempe Films; Toby Radloff from "Killer Nerd"; Kevin "Madman Pondo" Canady from "2001 Maniacs"; Syn DeVil from "Stakes"; Lynn Marz from the "Creepy Clips" trilogy; and many filmmakers.
Dark Karnival runs from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday. The movies will be played during the show and after the show ends. Admission is $8 for one day, and $15 for two. For information, call (330) 609-6648.
