Butler Co. brush fire threatens bridge
CHICORA, Pa. (AP) -- A brush fire spread to a railroad trestle in Butler County, threatening a bridge that serves three chemical plants.
The fire began at about 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in Donegal Township, about 40 miles north of Pittsburgh.
Authorities said firefighters from several companies battled the blaze, but were unable to prevent the fire from reaching the bridge.
The bridge services three chemical plants and is the only way in and out of those facilities, said Dave Baer of Buffalo and Pittsburgh Railroad.
State police said the plants are not in danger.
Authorities do not know how the fire started. No injuries were reported. An investigation is continuing.
