ARLINGTON, Texas -- Vicente Padilla forced in the go-ahead run in the seventh inning when he walked two batters and hit two others. Kyle Lohse (2-3) allowed one run and six hits in six innings as Minnesota won for the fourth time in five games.
With the score 1-1, Padilla (3-3) walked Torii Hunter and Michael Cuddyer opening the seventh, then hit Justin Morneau and Mike Redmond with pitches. Tony Batista hit a run-scoring, double-play grounder off Joaquin Benoit, and Hunter added an RBI single off Francisco Cordero in the eighth. Mark DeRosa hit a two-run double against Juan Rincon in the bottom half, but Joe Nathan struck out two in a perfect ninth for his fifth save.
Devil Rays 1, Mariners 0
SEATTLE -- Scott Kazmir (5-2) allowed only three singles -- two of them infield hits -- and struck out nine in seven innings. Ruddy Lugo pitched a perfect eighth, and Tyler Walker got his fourth save, allowing a leadoff double to Raul Ibanez. Walked struck out Richie Sexson and Carl Everett, then retired Adrian Beltre on a one-hop grounder to third baseman Tomas Perez, who nabbed the ball prone, got up and threw out to first. Jamie Moyer (1-3) balked in the fifth with Toby Hall on third, Moyer's first balk since Aug. 19, 2000, at Cleveland.
Tigers 6, Orioles 3
BALTIMORE -- Rookie Justin Verlander (4-3) took a five-hitter into the seventh, and Brandon Inge and Curtis Granderson hit successive homers in a four-run seventh. Verlander gave up three runs, seven hits and three walks in 61/3 innings, and Todd Jones got three outs for his seventh save. Rodrigo Lopez (1-5) allowed six runs and eight hits in six-plus innings, and is winless in seven starts since opening day.
Blue Jays 9, Athletics 7
TORONTO -- Lyle Overbay hit a grand slam off Joe Blanton (3-4) as Toronto took a 6-0 lead in the first inning. Reed Johnson tied a career-high with four hits and made a sprawling catch on pinch-hitter Dan Johnson near the left-field foul line to prevent the tying run from scoring. Oakland led 7-6 in the fourth following home runs by Adam Melhuse, Mark Kotsay and Frank Thomas. Johnson doubled in the bottom half, and Toronto went ahead for good on Adam Melhuse's run-scoring passed ball and Frank Catalanotto's sacrifice fly. Francisco Rosario (1-0) pitched two innings for his first major league victory, and B.J. Ryan got five outs for his eighth save.
NATIONAL LEAGUE
Cardinals 7, Rockies 4
ST. LOUIS -- Albert Pujols hit his major league-leading 18th homer and Jeff Suppan won his fourth straight start. Juan Encarnacion also homered for the Cardinals, who took two of three from the NL West leaders and have won five of six overall. Pujols followed John Rodriguez's first-inning single with a drive off Byung-Hyun Kim (1-1), who gave up seven runs and 10 hits in 4 2-3 innings. Suppan (4-2) struck out seven and walked none, allowing three runs and six hits in five innings. Jason Isringhausen got three straight outs for his 10th save.
Mets 13, Phillies 4
PHILADELPHIA -- Tom Glavine (5-2) allowed three runs and four hits in seven strong innings and drove in a pair of runs to win his third straight start and stop Philadelphia's nine-game winning streak -- the Phillies' longest since a 13-game run in 1991. Cory Lidle (3-4) gave up eight runs -- five earned -- and seven hits in two-plus innings, and New York led 10-0 in the third, Jose Reyes homered for the Mets, who rebounded from a 5-4 loss in the series opener to win for the 10th time in 14 games.
Marlins 11, Braves 3
MIAMI -- Rookie Josh Johnson (3-2) limited the Braves to four hits and an unearned run in six innings, and Florida had 17 hits in ending its streak of 11 consecutive home losses. Miguel Cabrera went 4-for-5 with a home run, two doubles, two RBIs and four runs scored. Joe Borchard homered and had a career-high four RBIs, and Mike Jacobs also homered for Florida. NL batting leader Edgar Renteria went 0-for-4, ending his 23-game hitting streak to start the season. Kyle Davies (2-3) gave up four runs and eight hits in four-plus innings.
Reds 9, Nationals 6
CINCINNATI -- Scott Hatteberg broke a 6-6 tie with a two-run double in the eighth against Mike Stanton (1-4).
Adam Dunn hit a two-run homer and Felipe Lopez stole a career-high four bases as the Reds (22-12) stayed in first place in the NL Central. Austin Kearns went 4-for-4 with two RBIs. David Weathers (1-1) gave up the tying hit to Matt LeCroy.
