TRACK AND FIELD Lakeview High boys, girls sweep TAC championships



Liberty's Fitzgerald Edwards was involved in three wins.
CORTLAND -- The Lakeview High boys and girls captured team championships in the Trumbull Athletic Conference track and field meet Tuesday at Lakeview High School.
Fitzgerald Edwards of Liberty took the boys 100 meters (11.04 seconds), the 200 (22.45) and was a member of the Leopards' winning 4x100 relay (43.7).
Brad Schrecengost helped Lakeview win the title with 144 points as he won the shot put (48 feet, 7 inches) and the discus (140-3).
The Bulldogs also won the 4x800 (8:33.6) and 4x200 (1:33.6) relays.
Brien Golden of Girard successfully defended his title in winning the high jump (6-2), while teammate Brett Davenport took the long jump (21-1 1/2).
Liberty finished second in the meet with 119 points and Girard was third with 74.
The Lakeview girls rolled up 169 points. Hubbard placed second with 117 and Girard was third with 88.
Carter sets meet record
Katoria Carter of the Eagles set a meet record in winning the 400 (57.53) bettering the old mark of 58.4 by Jennifer Mass of Newton Falls in 1998. Carter also won the 200 (26.24).
Rachel Crafton (16.23) of Hubbard took first place in the 100 hurdles, Jackie Dach (16.27) of Newton Falls was second and Kari Haywood (16.9) of Brookfield was third.
Haywood (47.37) placed first in the 300 hurdles. Hanna Croft (49.47) of Lakeview was second.
Lakeview won the 4x800 (10:24.2), 4x200 (1:48.1) , 4x100 (52.1) and 4x400 (4:13.9) relays.
Katie Scannell of the Bulldogs took the 1600 (5:42.2) and she was second in the 800 (2:35.6) and she anchored the winning 4x400 relay and a member of the winning 4x800 relay.
Sarroya Townsend of Girard took the shot put with a toss of 35-4 and the discus with a throw of 116-4.
