The team recently announced it has been accepted as a member of the North American Football League's Grass Roots Division, making the Knights eligible for post-season play in 2006.
Team representatives said the team's name would be changed next season to the Lawrence County Knights and that the team is continuing to look for an appropriate place to play ball.
Earlier this year, team representatives asked the school board to consider allowing the team to rent the new stadium.
School officials did not provide specific reasons for their decision not to enter into a pact with the team.
