Born: May 10, 1906, in Fargo, N.D.
Address: Lived in Youngstown until moving to Blackburn Home in Poland in March 2003, then she moved in January 2004 to her current residence at Alterra Sterling House, Canfield Road.
Married: Alfred P. Hermes on July 13, 1929, in Denver. They met at North Dakota State College. After the couple retired, they moved to Geneva-on-the-Lake and wintered in Cape Coral, Fla. He died in 1987.
Children: Beverly Sisek of Boardman, Nancy Norris of Youngstown, James Hermes of Kiawah Island, S.C., Robert Hermes of Canfield and Patricia Morris of Poland, who were raised in Youngstown.
Family: 12 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Employment: Was a homemaker until her children were grown, then worked in sales for Ohio Edison Co. until retiring in 1972.
Church/affiliations: St. Edward Church in Youngstown and the Assumption Parish in Geneva. She was an active member of the Blazettes, a volunteer organization for the fire department, and also volunteered at the library in Geneva.
Activities: Became a golfer after retiring and played well into her 80s. She plays Scrabble and cards and loves visits from family and friends. She was an avid reader and oil painter.
Celebrations: Will be honored today at a party for the residents at Sterling House, where her family and friends will attend a lamb and chicken roast Saturday.
