Date for hearing on PUD has been changed

CANFIELD -- The meeting date has been changed for a public hearing on a controversial planned unit development and the township trustees' regular meeting.
The hearing will be at 6 p.m., and the regular meeting will be at 7 p.m. May 30.
The trustees will vote on a zone change and a preliminary plan for a proposed PUD in the Westbury Park subdivision off Gibson Road. They will hear a presentation first by the township zoning inspector on recommendations by the county planning commission, which is against the plan, and the township's zoning commission, which voted 3-2 last week in favor of it.
Residents who bought single-family homes in the development are against the proposal, which is for 87 villa homes on narrower lots on 45 acres in the middle of the subdivision. They have said that if the trustees pass the plan, they will work to get the issue on the ballot in November.
