Board renews contract
ESC is renting space at the former Gordon James Career Center.
HOWLAND -- The Trumbull County Educational Service Center Governing Board has renewed the contract of Superintendent Anthony D'Ambrosio from Aug. 1, 2006, through July 31, 2007, at a salary of $85,800.
Earlier this year, the board rehired him as superintendent after his Dec. 31, 2005, retirement, and agreed to pay him $38,646 for the five months between March 1 and July 31, 2006.
D'Ambrosio's annual salary at retirement was $105,398. Board policy says a retired and rehired superintendent must be paid at least 10 percent less than his pre-retirement salary.
On Monday, the board also accepted the resignation for retirement of Carol A. Marino, supervisor of curriculum and instruction, effective July 1.
Space rented
It also entered into contract with the Lordstown Board of Education to rent space at 1776 Salt Springs Road, effective July 1, to house its Trumbull Academy alternative school for high school students with behavior disorders, Transitional Adjustment Program for emotionally disturbed high school students, and the Northeastern Ohio Instructional Media Center, which lends items to local schools.
Trumbull Academy and the media center are now housed at the ESC office in downtown Warren. The TAP program is at Christ Episcopal Church in Warren.
The programs are moving to take advantage of the available low-rent space in a school environment, said Lori A. Simione, ESC treasurer.
Under the contract, ESC will rent about 5,700 square feet for $54,097 for one year, renewable annually. The rented space is in the former Gordon James Career Center.
