EAST PALESTINE -- Chelsea Peterson pitched a complete game as she scattered three hits with nine strikeouts. Becky Hill, Katie Browne, Jennie Allison and Peterson each hit two singles for the Bulldogs (19-5). The schools split during the regular season and United finished with a 13-9 record. In next Monday's district semifinal at Green Beaver Complex, East Palestine will face Ursuline.
Ursuline 15, South Range 5
BEAVER TOWNSHIP -- Vannessa Dickson hit her ninth home run, a three-run shot in the second inning of the five-inning contest. Dickson had three hits and five RBIs. Leading Ursuline's (15-9) attack was Ashley Siembieda, Jenna Klempay, Jessica Yarab and Angela Joseph with two hits apiece. For South Range (5-14-1), Heather Stacey homered and Sara Haynie tripled.

ANDOVER -- Winning pitcher Kasey Karr had two RBI doubles to lead the Golden Flashes (15-6). She struck out 12 and walked one to improve to 7-2. Freshman Matie Saluga also had two doubles while senior Jaclyn Carpenter had three hits and scored three runs. Also with two hits was Ashley Rable. Next Monday at Jefferson, Champion will take on Maplewood.
BASEBALL (DIVISION I)
Warren Harding 6, Ashtabula Lakeside 0
ASHTABULA -- Tom Popadak pitched a one-hitter, striking out 17, as Warren Harding (17-7) advanced to a Division I district semifinal. Deandre Ware went 3-for-3 for the Raiders, while Popadak singled and doubled, and drove in two runs. Andy Dobson also had two hits, including a double, and Matt Smith had a run-scoring two-bagger. Warren Harding will play North Royalton in the district semifinal at Cene Park next Monday.
