Police offer no details on New Castle shootings



NEW CASTLE, Pa. -- City police on Monday would not confirm reports of a shooting Sunday at a private club on Long Avenue, and they declined to comment on a fatal shooting at an area bar Friday.
According to Lawrence County coroner Russell S. Noga, Dwayne Demetrius Brown, 22, of 412 W. Grant St., was shot outside the Bomb Shelter on South Mill Street on Friday. Noga said Brown's friends drove him to Jameson Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 1:18 a.m. Saturday by Deputy Coroner Richard Johnson. Noga said Brown had been shot once.
City police said they were aware of reports of a shooting Sunday at a private club but would not provide additional information.
City Police Chief Tom Sansone was not available Monday and did not return phone calls made to his office by The Vindicator.
