Police investigate plane crash in Shenango Township

WEST MIDDLESEX, Pa. -- Southwest Mercer County Regional Police on Monday were investigating the cause of a plane crash at the West Middlesex Airport in Shenango Township.
Police said Dave Bresco, 42, of 572 Roxbury Drive, Youngstown, was transported by helicopter to St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Youngstown after the ultra-light airplane he was flying went down around 8 p.m. Sunday in a field about a mile south of the airport on Hubbard-West Middlesex Road. Officials at St. Elizabeth said Monday evening that they had no record of him being in the hospital.
Police Chief Riley Smoot Jr. said it took officers several minutes to find the crash site and that they found the nose of the plane head-first in the ground.
Shenango Township Volunteer Fire and EMS personnel assisted at the crash site.
