HELOISE Packet offers women's health information

Dear Heloise: National Women's Health Week (May 14-20) celebrates the extraordinary progress that has been made in treating diseases that affect women. Keeping healthy depends on women taking the time to learn more about ways to promote their physical and mental health.
When women take even the simplest steps to improve their health, the results can be significant. To help take those steps, the Food and Drug Administration's Office of Women's Health and the Federal Citizen Information Center have put together a new package of women's health publications especially for women and their loved ones. With practical hints on everything from asthma to depression, and diabetes to strokes, this kit is filled with helpful information that every woman can use for herself, her family and her friends.
To order a few Women's Health Kits, go online to www.pueblo.gsa.gov. You may also call toll-free (888) 878-3256 weekdays 8 a.m.-8 p.m. (ET) and ask for Heloise's Women's Health Kit. The Office of Women's Health, USFDA
This is a fantastic package, and I encourage my readers to request several so they can share with girlfriends, sisters, moms, etc. Ladies, get to the phone or computer today! Heloise
Dear Heloise: Do not discard that extra set of photo prints. Use the photos as postcards. Just divide the back for address and message. It saves postage, too. Alberta Bethard, Pekin, Ill.
Alberta, this is a lovely way to use extra photos. Something to keep in mind is that if your pictures exceed the postcard size of 41/4 inches high by 6 inches long, you will be charged the first-class-mail letter rate, which is 39 cents, versus 24 cents for a postcard. Heloise
Dear Heloise: After realizing that I was often paying for the renewal of a magazine months before it was actually due, I started keeping a simple list for each year -- stating the name of the publication, the amount I paid, when I paid and for what length subscription. You can also add political and charity donations, and also dues to belong to an organization. I keep the old lists, because sometimes I pay for three years ahead. No more double paying!
Also, I typed up a list of the items we buy each week at the grocery store, and I put them in the order they are in at my store. Then I ran off about 20 copies. We now just check off what we need, rather than having to write out the item each week. Saves some time and is easier! Joan Millon, Olathe, Kan.
Dear Heloise: As a senior citizen, I found it very difficult to bend over to clean the bathtub. Then I had a light-bulb solution!
When I shower, I put the stopper in the tub, and when I finish with the shower, I pour some cleaner in the tub, swish it around the sides with a new toilet brush and let it sit awhile, then come back, drain and rinse. Voil & aacute; -- sparkling clean! Billie Cooper, North Richland Hills, Texas
