Monday's Best Bets on TV
"American Experience: Annie Oakley" (9 p.m., PBS): Anything a man could do, she could do better. Or so the song from "Annie Get Your Gun," the musical tribute to Annie Oakley, claimed. Now a documentary portrays the real rootin'-tootin' Wild West sharpshooter, who, despite her legendary stardom in Buffalo Bill's Wild West Show and her "adoption" by Indian chief Sitting Bull, lived her entire life east of the Mississippi. With the end of the 19th century, she had become a living symbol of the Wild West -- a place that was fast disappearing. She changed people's ideas about the abilities of women, yet opposed female suffrage. Her fame and fortune came from her skill with guns, yet she was a Quaker. Born Phoebe Anne Moses, she was the little lady from Greenville, Ohio, who never missed a shot.
"7th Heaven" (8 p.m., The WB): Pop quiz: What was the most successful show ever on the soon-to-be-defunct WB? If you guessed "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" or "Dawson's Creek," you're so not right. No, it was the heartwarming family drama "7th Heaven," which apparently is ending its 10-year run tonight. We say "apparently" because there has been some talk that it could resurface on the new CW network next fall.
"Murder on Pleasant Drive" (9 p.m., Lifetime): A vivacious Indianapolis woman marries a man she barely knows. Then, soon after relocating with him to New Jersey, she mysteriously vanishes. The woman's daughter, Deanna, and Deanna's Aunt Sherrie pair up to investigate this strange disappearance in "Murder on Pleasant Drive," a fact-based movie. Kelli Williams ("The Practice") stars as Deanna, herself a single working mother whose dogged pursuit of justice -- hindered by the lack of a body -- leads her to identify the prime suspect as her mom's husband, John Smith (played by Alan Arkin). Then truly unsettling evidence surfaces.
"Prison Break" (8 p.m., Fox): They're trying to break out again, just in time for the season finale.
"David Blaine: Drowned Alive" (8 p.m., ABC): The magician is moving into an 8-foot tall cage and living there for a week. Oh yeah, he'll be surrounded by water, too.
