The New Castle Junior/Senior High School's "grand dedication" ceremony was Sunday at 300-310 Lincoln Ave., with guided tours, music and refreshments. The front entrance is shown above. At left, eighth-grade computer teacher James Payne demonstrates how a computer screen built into the wall works by touching the screen. The New Castle Board of Education obtained a $20 million line of credit for school renovations in 2004, which led to moving the junior high pupils to the new building. The building has the latest in lights, security and classrooms. There is a computer technology room for the eighth-graders; the auditorium is complete with a balcony and orchestra pit; and the school's new art room features indirect lighting and design. The field house at New Castle High School was the only part of the old school that was saved -- but it was retrofitted with new seats, paint, lights and locker rooms.
